Did it have the complete lack of plot/cinematic quality that characterized the first movie? *NM* Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 17/07/2010 08:22:05 AM
Watch out, some spoilers below. Well, I just now went and saw Eclipse in theaters because I did NOT want to get stuck in a movie theater packed with loud, uppity teenage girls, but I wanted to get the benefit of the big screen. There were still plenty of annoying females in the crowd, but you can't win 'em all. At least the theater was more than half empty.

I loved the books to death. I don't feel that they were aimed at a teen audience as much as the movies are. I was disappointed (as always) in Kristen Stewart's terrible acting job and lack of emotional range, but the rest of the movie was pretty amazing. The special effects were finally up to par (they got their heads out of their arses after Twilight did so badly), the rest of the cast was very convincing, and they did a good job of staying true to the novel.

The Edward/Jacob conflict almost seemed to play a bigger plot factor than Victoria's army of newborns, and the big battle scene at the end seemed over almost as soon as it started (it probably lasted between 5 and 10 min, but it was under-played in my opinion).

I've been hoping since the first movie came out that they would replace Kristen Stewart in the last movie Breaking Dawn. Obviously they are stuck with her as human-Bella, but after Bella undergoes her change in Breaking Dawn she is nearly unrecognizable to her family - that's part of the main plot and why she can't see Charlie again, so I thought perhaps they would switch actresses to make the change seem dramatic enough and to finally get a good actress on-screen for the uber stuff at the end of the series. Unfortunately, during an Alice-glimpse in New Moon, we see Bella running through a forest in a dress, sparkling like a vampire, looking just like Kristen Stewart. Still. *sigh*

I am dreading watching Kristen try to show Bella's emotions during the Volturi stand-off when she snarles at Jane and all the other angry, feral stuff Bella is supposed to do as a newborn. If she can't convincingly act like human Bella she'll never pull off vampire-Bella.

I hope they hire Kristen an acting coach for Breaking Dawn. If they hired one for her before Eclipse, then they need to try someone new.

Anyone else enjoy Eclipse? Anyone else tired of Kristen Stewart?
