I suspect that they'll call the whole thing Season 6 for marketing and sales purposes. The point is, though, that you'll have to wait longer for the resolution of the series and consequently, you'll have to wait longer before it comes out on DVD.
In the meantime, I'm just quietly acquiring episode after episode of the old series as they are released. I think there are less than 30 outstanding now (obviously this excludes the ones that can't be restored from the First and Second Doctors, but that still means I've got about 90 of the things now).
