Smaug coming right at your face, trolls reaching out toward you and turning to stone as dawn breaks...it has the potential to be awesome if they do it right.
If they plan accordingly from now on and film it in 3D, this will turn out beautifully and spectacular. As long as they don't film regularly and just add a layer later on, which adds zero depth.
The constant whining against (real) 3D is starting to get on my nerves. I wonder why each time I go the theater it's nearly sold out to the last seat.
