i think the problem is that she's written like an idiot. even though she's supposed to be a detective she has a blind spot detective-ing in her own life. it's possible to ascribe that to psychological elements - daddy issues keep her blind to male partner issues: no matter how smart she is, her common sense around any intimate relationship is compromised because of the emotional unavailability of her father throughout her life. etc etc. looking forward to hearing more about what else you're irked by
