So I'm an idiot for not believing in the all mighty power of the HDTV?

It typically happens when you're an idiot and/or don't care about the picture all that much to begin with. Beetnemesis tried to explain the level of detail that hd provides especially in a football game. The clarity of the grass, the decals, etc.
However, you slapped his comment aside claiming that it was good enough before.
If you want to make the argument that hdtv isn't worth the price for what you get then fine. But don't make a bonehead argument and waste everyone's time by saying that hdtv isn't significantly better than standard definition. It's just stupid. Especially when you get a bigger screen.
Open your eyes. If you have a 1080p tv and it's set up properly and on the hdtv channel, during an hd telecast, then it will be way clearer than standard def.
Stop being an ass. Really.
And an ass for double, triple, and quadruple checking my setup, TV, and channel?
OK. I guess I can live with that.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

HD. What's the deal?

If the picture isn't filling the screen, then it's not HD

I can see the wrinkles and nose hairs much more clearly. I am not necessarily keen on HD. TMI. *NM*
