He got about 6 episodes in, and just... decided he didn't like it.

I'm confused. I've never seen this happen before.

Maybe he wasn't actually watching Firefly?

I'm still not sure how since the DVDs I was borrowing were very clearly labeled. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the show though.
