Repercussions on movies that feature floods/tsunamis Helene Send a noteboard - 12/03/2011 07:44:18 PM
E.g. the movie Hereafter starts out with a tsunami and one of the main characters going through a near death experience... This is now rather poor timing. I wonder if it will get pulled from the theatres.

This happens to movies more often than you think. E.g. there was a romantic comedy set in NYC that was supposed to come out late September 2001. The money got pulled and the movie never saw the light of day.
Apparently for Spiderman, they had to CGI the twin towers out of the movie.

I also felt that the commercials in between the earthquake/tsunami reports that featured people swimming, and trips to Asia (I think they did cut out Tokyo, as there was a shot that mentioned Tokyo, they didn't explicitly state that you could visit there), were somewhat of a PR disaster.

I doubt they'd pull a movie that's already in theatres. - 12/03/2011 08:21:47 PM 747 Views
