I dislike the Rhaegar-Lyanna theory so much.

How come? And then as a follow up, who do you think his parents are? Since I don't go to any GRRM forums or anything, my exposure to Jon-Birth theories is very limited. On those forums, it could be seen as akin to the Asmo Killer theory...I'm not sure.

I can understand this as Ned is awesome.

b) When I first encountered this theory I said "Who is Rhaegar?". I don't like the thought of Jon being the son of two characters who are dead long before book one. It feels so...insignificant for such a major character like Jon. Especially in the TV show now, everyone who is not on screen won't really be mentioned all that often and once that's revealed, non-readers will be like: Meh.


This is silly. You don't want a theory to be true because you don't like how it may or may not be portrayed in a tv series years down the line?
AAAAAND Rhaegar, I'd say, besides being dead is abiiig biig factor in the books and what's happening. It all ties back to what the relationship between him and Lyanna was. If she was abducted and murdered, Robert did the right thing. If she and Rhaegar loved each other, Robert was wrong.

c) the mere fact that the fanboys already take this for granted :P
