I'm not crazy about the idea of a fake wolf either ... but as time goes on they get bigger and become involved in more action scenes, including Grey Wind fighting in battle and Ghost intimidating anyone who looks at him funny.

If the alternative to CGI is not having them around very much ... well, I think the wolves are a pretty important part of the Stark story arc. The Stark arc. The Starc.
