I don't know what it took to create Aslan, in terms of time/money/investment, but if they can approach something like him, it would be pretty awesome.

As it is, there's no way regular dogs will do the trick for later seasons. Ghost and Grey Wind turn into rather huge, menacing beasts nobody wants to mess with. Think how big the dead direwolf was in Ep-1....there's no dogs that approach that. Nymeria as well, though she doesn't necessarily get screen time. They're gonna need to go CGI IMO, for both that factor and the hastle of shooting the scenes correctly and timely.
