I thought it was that the animorphs were idiots and Rowling realized she couldn't play zoologist.... Cannoli Send a noteboard - 12/05/2011 08:28:04 PM
...if she ignored the theoretically education premise of the books. The mission statement of "kids turn into animals" is undermined by their use of deadly alien warrior species. That was one thing that frustrated me (though I should not have been reading them in my mid20s to be fair - I was in a pissing contest with my little brother over whether WoT or animorphs were better, and the latter gave me something new each month while waiting for WoT to come out) about this series: the Yerk war was only there to add suspense and conflict and an actual purpose for kids to turn into animals, but in hindsight, it kind of overshadowed the original hook, to the point where it was like, screw the animals! Go with Hork-Bajir and Andalite forms!
