I'm all for changing some things from the books so it translates to television, but what the FUCK is the point of making Renley and Loras gay?! That only complicates their story lines down the road.

What a stupid fucking decision. I mean it's not even that they're gay. That would have been fine if it was part of the original story. But it's not, and now I've lost a lot of faith in how well this show will go.

That said, I can eat my words when I'm wrong, and the Mountain looked just as imposing as I pictured him in the books.


As Tim said, they are gay in the books but it is a lot more subtle. I had read through the four books and never really caught it until someone on Wotmania said something about it. Then it was like the light bulb went on. Their closeness and Renly's never having consummated the marriage made a lot more sense in that vein. Although Loras in the TV series is what I pictured him looking like at all. I imagined a much more masculine guy and not so effeminate.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
