The capture of Jaime and the death of Ned happen very close together, before news gets to spread too far. I was forgetting what order they'd happen in, plus the Green Fork and the Whispering Wood are right after one another in the book as well.
The last scene of Season 1 is the exact last scene of the book. Apparently the production team insisted as much CGI and post-production time was devoted to it as possible (they're still working on it now, and may do so right up until transmission). I'm not sure precisely how Dany's story falls out, aside from that. I suspect the Mirri Maz Duur stuff is in Episodes 9-10, with the assassination attempt maybe in 7.

You can make the first 3 books into a very satisfying series.....3 seasons or so.

If WoT was to be done at all, it could probably be crunched down to shorter than 14 seasons

If WOT became a TV series, I have to imagine that most secondary characters would be cut.
