You're letting things that aren't even close to happening in the show affect your comparison?? A Deathwatch Guard Send a noteboard - 22/06/2011 06:29:54 AM
Because I think he is a lot cooler and more likable than in the books, where I took him for a little whiner. Of course, the fact that I perceive him differently could already be considered a complaint.

He's young and unrefined on the TV show but likeable and a good learner. In the book when he takes whats-her-name for a wife even though he knew he was betrothed to Lord Walder's daughter, well we both know what a stupid mistake that was. He absolutely should have known better. The book Rob, to me, was much more controlled by his mother than TV Rob who seems to have a mind of his own.

Robb is also young, and unrefined, and a good learner in the books. And Catelyn never directly controls him, but only guides him with prompts and hints, and since you're bringing things from later books into the discussion I'll add that he then breaks free of even that minor influence, so he most certainly has a mind of his own.

Mainly I dislike tv show Robb because of his scene with the Lannister spy, that he let go in a stereotypical, "I have a plan so I don't care what the spy reports, because he's playing right into my hands! Ha-ha-ha-ha!" sort of way. While the Robb in the books was actually much more believable as a character and more capable as well, except for the one mistake he made, at a time of extreme grief.
