Did you watch the first episode only, and then saying the whole series is crap? That's what it looks like to me based on what you are citing in your post.

I watched the beginning of the first episode only, and then am saying it doesn't give me anything the books couldn't, and doesn't give me all the books could.

I am someone who has not read the books, and the beginning half of the first episode was rather boring for me. But I started really liking the show from episodes 2 and 3 onwards. I can't compare it the books obviously, but it was enjoyable to watch.


And is indeed what I was asking about. I'll watch a few more episodes, see if my opinion changes.
