Not really espionage, I don't think, but something to do with flying to neutral Lisbon and using his influence as a famous actor there, or something... then the Germans shot down the plane he was travelling back on.

As for Vivien Leigh, she got not one but two Oscars for playing major roles in major American works of fiction, the other for her lead in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Of course, loads of Hollywood stars of that time were foreign-born (and even more of the directors).


As long as they can convincingly act like the nationality they are trying to portray.
