A detective is in a car accident with his wife and son. From that point forward, he exists in two different realities. In one reality, only he and his wife survived the crash. In the other, only he and his son did. The title of Awake alludes to how every time he goes to sleep, he awakes in the other reality. One of those "which reality is real? is either real?" kind of shows, which is popularly exploited as a single episode of various TV shows, but not as the backbone of an entire series.

The preview promo below shows what promises to be a very fascinating first few episodes. I don't know that they can drag the premise on for a complete series, but the initial episodes should at least be really great television.
