Might it also be possible ... Nate Send a noteboard - 27/09/2011 08:03:52 PM
... for the Doctor to for reals die but then be ressurected? That seems hokey, but the Master has been ressurected before. I don't know if the Doctor would want to be brought back if he made his peace and accepted his death, though.

But the thought occurred because April 22, 2011, his date of death, is Good Friday. This is the traditionally accepted date of Jesus' death. Jesus, of course, came back to life three days later.

I don't feel as though that would be a satisfying resolution, however. Standard ressurection hasn't really been established as a Chekov's Gun potential solution here. Something either timey-wimey or related to the flesh ganger strikes me as more likely.

In unrelated speculation, I read something very interesting that could be a clue, or might not mean anything. When Amy opens her blue envelope at the start of the season, it's labelled 16:30 on April 22, 2011. The date and time at which Amy and Rory (and River) are supposed to meet the Doctor.

This is exactly 32 minutes before the Doctor's death, which is noted in River's journal (and other places, I think) as 5:02 pm, April 22, 2011.

By complete coincidence, this is the exact amount of time the TARDIS told the Doctor he had left to live when he was poisoned by River in Let's Kill Hitler. Exactly 32 minutes. The Doctor argues that there's lots you can do in 32 minutes. The next we see him, he's wearing a tuxedo and has a sonic cane, but still appears to be dying from the poison.

I can't really come up with a way to connect those 32 minutes with the 32 minutes in the first episode. But the fact that they are the same number of minutes really makes me wonder.
