But honestly, I think you are overrating the efforts to kill Lucas. If he made a remake of the original trilogy, people would probably be less offended than if Greebo (or whatever) shot first in the original one. Really, small changes are probably worse. A new set of movies can be scoffed at and then silently bought in secret afterwards.
