There were parts I enjoyed though. The Doctor decorating was fabulous.
I think that more could have happened in the other world on the journey.

She would still have the telegram because history didn't change. The plane still disappeared over the channel, leading to the supposition that they crashed; it just reappeared a few days later somewhere else, after a short trip through the time vortex.
