Venom powers come from the suit that Richard Parker made
Peter Parker origin is pretty much the same as the original marvel, but instead of it being a radioactive spider it is a genetic mutated spider. The spider was mutated by the "oz compound." Later on after deducing that Spider-man is Peter Parker, Norman Osborn injects the same oz compound into himself (without spider dna) and becomes the Green Goblin.
