Characters live that should die and some die that should live. Some aren't even from the comic.
The death spoiler from the most recent episode, for instance, features a character that has a long survival period and an eventual romantic relationship in the comic. In the show, he dies much earlier and without getting even close to nookie.

Otis lived quite a bit longer as well, not to mention Sophia who is still alive in the comics, and Shane who died before they left Atlanta.
