It's definitely marketed as such, whatever its content. Legolas Send a noteboard - 30/03/2012 08:59:37 PM
This is not a teen series. The content is very adult. That's true with some YA books... they're considered YA because the characters are teenagers. It drives me nuts.

I saw your comment in the other thread, and it was interesting because only today I read an article in the newspaper about how, in a strange reversal of roles, American parents were kicking up a fuss about how very violent this movie was and how their kids shouldn't be watching it, while parents around here apparently didn't care so much.

I don't think any book is considered YA exclusively because its characters are teenagers. Or even primarily. Of course nearly all YA books have teenager characters, but it's the writing and the marketing that make a book YA or not.

YA has become huge in the past 5-10 years, thanks to Harry Potter and others. - 25/03/2012 08:58:58 PM 860 Views

I liked it, but at times, I felt like I was a citizen of Panem, watching kids get killed on screen. - 27/03/2012 08:07:48 PM 847 Views
