best movie ever??? not so much. in my humble opinion. It had all the key elements of a great show. Story. Good acting. Pace of the story unfolding. Action (very well done). Ridley Scott has always impressed me with his directing. Russell Crowe, what can you say. He is excellent in nearly every film I have seen that he has been in. But what keeps Gladiator from being the best movie ever for me is that it took too long to hook me into caring what happens and then it took too long to get there. Once again, just my opinion.

I agree with you on all points. I liked the movie, didn't love it. And Russell Crowe is one of the best actors of our time. As a human being I can't say I'm really a fan, he seems like a jerk, but he's a great actor.

As for Ridley Scott....fantastic director. Not much else to say about him.
