Presumably, with no nutrition, die. However, the proto-alien might be able to reproduce by itself (as the original alien in ALIEN started doing, even without a queen), leaving behind eggs/canisters/whatever to trap any potential follow-up rescue mission.
Depends, how long can it live off any nutrients left on the two crashed ships and any other ships the Engineers left (assuming it hasn't perished) as well as how well it can hibernate... given how little attention was paid to details in the film, I can't see it being a problem.
Yeah, even trapped inside that surgery chamber without any food source, it seemed to have grown to an enormous size, so I guess it will find some means of survival. But, isn't the super powerful black goo is poisonous to that creature too?
I wonder what the sequel will be like. I hope they do not do the sort of hand-waving they did in this film. It will be nice if it resolves the whole Engineers creating and then trying to destroy humans storyline. And also sheds light on how the Engineers are related to the Predators and the Aliens. I also want to know where Elizabeth Shaw is during the Alien film time-line. Is she somehow related to Ellen Ripley from the Alien film?
Btw, who thinks David will regain his full body in the sequel? I think Shaw will just carry around David's head, because I doubt if there is any machinery on board the Engineers' ship to repair a human built android.
Isn't everyone in WoT re-born?

Meh. The movie was OK, I feel like it tried to do too much and didn't finish anything it started

Nothing in this post can spoil the film as badly as the script writer did, so it could be worse *NM*
