Every movie doesn't have to have every aspect from real life, that's why they are movies.
Commodus is pretty insane. I agree that he's not officialy insane, like drag-off-to-an-assylum insane, but the other unofficial kind of insane. :)


I think most serious writers and filmmakers would disagree with the assertion that movies don't have to be realistic. Sure, it's fine for The Wizard of Oz, but not for a movie that won Best Picture. I think it was an embarrassing and ridiculous ending that dragged down an excellent start.
