Downton Abbey (spoilers thru s03e07) imlad Send a noteboard - 29/10/2012 05:56:05 AM
One thing this show has done to me over the 3 series (when its a British show, I'll call it a series for anyone reading the Britishisms thread) is to take a character I didn't like early on and make them sympathetic. First the Dowager Duchess (I just love the way Maggie Smith plays her!) and Lady Mary, then Mrs. O'Brien (even though I actually am starting to hate on her again, she's just gone to far on her treatment of Thomas), and Lady Edith as well. Now, it's trying to make me feel sympathy for Thomas Barrow, who has been a wormy little bastard since the get go? I don't hold his homosexuality against him in any way, but neither do I find it a reason to pity him. I do feel bad that O'Brien manipulated him into making that big mistake, but I can't really get over the fact that he pretty much has it coming.

I am still not yet over Lady Sybil's death (TV crush on the character) but I am so happy for Tom Branson after this episode.

Poor Ethel. The Dowager Duchess' idea for Ethel, and the way she handled it was wonderful, and really the best thing for Ethel, but you have to feel sorry for her.

Call me a sap, but I love this show.
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
