Doctor Who and Downton Abbey, for example. Top gear, too; particularly since the British version is actually MORE popular than the American remake. I think that makes it hard to argue that shows are remade so that Americans can understand them. I know I said this before, but it's like a movie reboot. They didn't reboot Spiderman because people had trouble understanding the cultural references of the early 2000s (timeframe of the previous trilogy), they did it because it was a proven, popular story.
