View original postThat would mean attending a few of their early story meetings where he would present to them arc by arc his book (a few days of work), and wouldn't delay him much in his own writing, but I doubt Martin will participate all that much to the development of GOT if they overrun the publication of his books.

View original postMy suspicion is that he provided them with material with which to develop their own ending in this case, with freedom to use his characters as they see fit and all.

I just have a hard time believing Tyrion will safe the day in the big finale and die in the book (or vice versa). At least I would be super pissed if I could celebrate someone's awesomeness in the series finale and then read a year later how Martin kills him off once again.

Your scheduling ideas of how it could end up working out after all make sense, but they rely on a lot of things: HBO waiting a little or even greenlighting a movie and Martin finishing Dream of Spring only two years after Winds. I am just not sure any or all of that will happen. We'll see

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
