The original show is good, for the first half. And that first half is better than Brotherhood's actually, because Brotherhood seemed to try its best simply to get through it so it could get to the new material from the manga. But the original series went way, way off the rails, changed so many things from the manga, and most of it just wasn't nearly as good or as interesting. To me, it felt like watching a fanfic. Plus, I much prefer the music in Brotherhood, and the art style. Everything just seems much crisper there, likely thanks to the HD and added attention to detail.
