The comment is a simple statement of fact, just as if he had mentioned that a clear sky is blue. There's no "snarkiness" in that. He pointed out a simple irony.
And why would he care about the attention of people who are annoyed with his reviews in the first place? If I came to this site, or Facebook, or any other social outlet, to make friends, I should consider putting a bullet into my brain because that would mean I'm as boring and shallow as the people I hold in general contempt.
