Mind you, I do like Katniss Everdeen as a character even in the book, but Jennifer Lawrence adds still a lot more to it - and as you said, very memorable performances from Malone and Clafin (did anyone know either of those before this?) and of course Philip Seymour Hoffman. Sutherland doesn't exactly have much to work with, and can't be blamed for being serviceable at best.
