And honestly, in Batman's case at least the reboot was believable and seemed to really add new elements. With Spiderman, while I admittedly haven't seen either of the new ones, I really don't have that impression.

They retold his origin story in the last film again, maybe because they got a younger actor. They simply could have continued counting because overall the films have not changed all that much (except Raimi's first two were better somehow)
