They toyed around with the idea of a third film with the original Ghostbusters for so long one of the actors died in the progress.
When that was off the table the idea of a reboot came up. Then it turned out they wanted four female Ghostbusters. They picked their actresses for that now, see below.

I like Wiig and find her pretty funny but McCarthy is overused lately and mostly limited to "fat clumsy lady" jokes. Never heard of the other two.

The creators said they wanna make it spookier and with references to the originals. I can't conjure up a lot of enthusiasm for this. Of course you could just leave a comedy classic alone, but let's be honest, that is not an option anymore these days. I would have been on board with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, I suppose. But this? Only stellar reviews will make me watch this.

Thoughts?


It's a fun new direction for the franchise, which is what so many of these freaking reboots are completely lacking. The actresses all seem just established enough to not be ruined if it flops and be propelled into A list status if it wildly succeeds.
