Seems like there's potential for some cliquish stuff there, though. Better official power to admins Arok Manok's Astral Projection Send a noteboard - 04/10/2009 03:05:11 AM

In my idea if I do this week's PR thread, at the end of my thread, I'll say next week, Missa should offer her point of view. Since the people following every week are also getting an idea of who else is following and who hasn't done a thread yet.

What you can end up with is a handful of people passing the official privilege back and forth and having site-backing for their regime. Joe, Jim and Mary all like each other's post, so they just tap each other back and forth each week and Lesser Known Poster Bob never gets a shot. Or Poster Bill never gets a shot because he posted a contrary comment in Mary's garden post on the community board and earned the wrath of their clique.

It's even less fair than a "whoever posts first ends up the official post" system, as at least that one is based on personal initiative and not who likes you.

If you'd say that most posters would be nicer than to do that sort of thing, then I'd return that that logic applies to any potential problems now. If Jim posts a Dollhouse thread every week and people feel he's monopolizing the discussion, one of them can ask him to let them do it this week.

If you're really worried that people aren't getting a chance to express themselves equally, just have an admin post official posts for each popular show on the day it airs. Then, everyone's post is a response to the main one and equally likely to be overlooked. (The main one shouldn't present any discussion topics. It should just say, "Discussion for Dollhouse (or Show X) within." Just take a look down the board at all the weekly-discussed shows and make a list of what days they air first globally. Then just have an admin post discussion threads for each one on that day of the week.
Arok Manok's Astral Projection* is brought to you by the letters O, D and D.
