Well, not really.

The first season is the weakest one, due to having simple freak-of-the-week plots, primarily. The second and third seasons are my favorites, and I think most people like them pretty well too. I mean, you haven't even met Spike yet, or the Mayor, or Faith, or anyone, so you're in for some real treats. Enjoy! :D
