For the first time ever, my folks plan to order some sort of tv service, and asked for my help. So I'm asking for yours.
Options that I know of: Time Warner Cable, Dish Network, DirecTV. Cable is too expensive, and for the moment, I'm leaning towards Dish Network. Why? They have that whole Turbo HD deal, which is like 30 channels (30 GOOD channels) of HD, and that's it; you don't get any regular channels. I like the idea because it's cheap (like 30 bucks a month, instead of 60ish for cable) and all the channels we'd actually like to watch seem to be included (ESPN/2, syfy, history, etc).
Questions for you:
1) Can you think of any reason DirecTV or Cable would be better, or any reason to definitely NOT use Dish?
2) Does anyone have a Turbo HD package, and if so, does it seem to be as advertised? Do you like it?
3) What's the deal with receivers? I don't really understand how that works. Can you buy one, or do you have to rent them from Dish? How much does it cost to rent/buy?
4) Another receiver question. We have three tvs: a standard def downstairs, and an HD set both upstairs, and in the attic. Would one of Dish's "1HD 1SD" dual set receivers be viable for that kind of setup, or is there a distance limitation? Can we get a dual, and then a single, and not have any problems?
5) Aaaaaand one more. When you have a dual receiver, can you watch something on both of them at the same time?
Thanks everyone.
