Seeing as how the patient saw how happy he was in his flashforward, he very well could simply decide not to get treated for his condition.


Possibly, but since he's basically already reached that zone of happiness six months ahead of time, I don't see why he wouldn't take the treatment.

Also, in reality, not taking the treatment isn't really a viable option in which he'd be "rocking leather pants" 6 months down the line...
