The episode is basically about Booth's grandfather who raised him getting kicked out of the nursing home and coming to stay with him. He's an old cuss but the interaction between his old-school mentality, Booth's personality, and Bones's personality is at points side-splitting hilarious!
The characters and the interactions on the show are what make the show so good and last night the show offered a one-time introduction to an additional character that made it even better than usual.
The show is such a good show. I don't know if they've ever won any awards but they definitely should for such good acting and writing.
For anyone who has ever had to deal with watching a family member grow older and struggle, last night's episode hit in the heart. There were a few times I even teared up. And there was some excellent foreshadowing concerning this season's "tension" between Bones and Booth's feelings toward one another.
This was one of those episodes that comes along in a show that is "special".
