I had to wait all week to watch the 2nd last ep, and I ended up watching it right before the finale aired on Sunday.
You put it beautifully. I'm so glad Garces won. I saw too much of Mehta being arrogant and rude. I get that it's a competition, but sometimes an ass is still just an ass.
Symon was a lot of fun to watch. I agree, he's much more articulate than I would have thought and that line especially was perfect.
I liked Freitag as well. I would have enjoyed her as an Iron Chef, but I'm happy for Garces as well.
I am too. I look forward to seeing his battles.

Thoughts on the finale last night? Personally, I was disappointed that Mullen got the boot last week, but I still liked Garces. Although I wished I'd been playing a game where I got to drink every time he complained about his frigging leg. IT HURTS -- WE GET IT.
And we got to see Appleman being a dick. Again (still).
From what the judges have said about Mehta's food throughout, I can't believe it was as close as it seemed. And <3 Michael Symon for articulating what I've been thinking about Mehta for weeks: "If you try to be creative and you fail, are you creative? Or are you a failure?" FAIL. You can't be an Iron Chef and not have your food taste good/be cooked properly. Period, the end.
