1. What is your favourite classic TV sitcom (by "classic" I generally mean anything before 2000 and the reality TV/medical drama/HBO-ization/cable dilution of the market phenomena)? Why?

Hmmm... I have always loved Good Times. I mean, they addressed some pretty serious shit in that show amidst all the joking and goofing off. Penny's abuse, Michael trying to stay out of the gangs and not be influenced by the drama of the ghetto, and the dad's death and Flo's subsequent remarrying are just a few themes for example. They just don't touch topics like that too much anymore. Hell, do you remember the Different Strokes episode where they touched on the problem of child molestation? I don't see any shows touching on serious kinds of issues like that anymore. The writing on the shows form that time period was just superior in my opinion.

2. Who is your favourite classic TV character? (Not necessarily from the same sitcom as above)

That's hard to say because each character was specific to his or her show. J.J. from Good times was classic, I loved Estelle Getty on Golden Girls, Ralph from Greatest American Hero played that role so well. I guess I can't decide on a favorite.

3. Do you like watching re-runs of old TV shows? If so, what are a few you like watching?

Oh yeah! I love watching old reruns even when I already know what is going to happen. Three's Company is always good for rerun laughs. Good Times, Facts of Life, Different Strokes, Silver Spoons, etc. I love them all!

4. Do you own any TV sitcoms on DVD? If so, which ones?

No.

5. What decade would you consider the "golden age" of the sitcom?

I really think the quality of sitcom shows in the late 70's and 80's was just better than anything else now. There were just so many hits and they all seemed to have pretty good writing. Now especially, I just can't stand some of the stuff that's on, it ranges from pretty good to just stupid and pointless. I never see shows now touch the subjects that older shows used to.

6. Laugh tracks - irritating or bearable?

Mheh, I don't usually notice them unless they are just ridiculous. Then they become an annoyance.

7. What sitcom did you hate the most and why?

I don't remember hating much, but I was never really a fan of Welcome Back Kotter.

8. What character on a TV sitcom irritated you the most and why?

I always like Janet on Three's Company but I thought Suzanne Summers was just stupid. Yet, everyone seemed to like her over Janet.

9. Which evil twin or brother/sister did you like best and why?

Eh? Not sure

10. What spinoff do you think was the best? The worst?

Empty Nest wasn't bad. I'm trying to think of others but can't right now.

That's it. Switch your main dials to U and then set your UHF dial to 50.

Lol! I doubt many kids now days know what that even means! :D
