Chuck Chuck Chuck....so sad *spoilers, if it can be said this series has any* Bryce Send a noteboard - 11/01/2010 10:14:27 AM
So, when season 2 of Chuck ended, my wife and I discussed what we thought of the show as a whole. We both came to the conclusion that the single most annoying thing about the show is that Nothing Ever Happens .

Chuck is a fun show. He's a spy that's not really cut out to be a spy. He's got an intersect in his head (now up to 2.0) and he can be pretty badass at just the right moment. Also, he has an off again on again "I love you but I can't be with you" relationship with Sarah.

This.Is.The.Whole.Story.

There is no progress. Chuck is essentially the same guy that we saw 2 seasons ago, he still has the same friends, family, and relationship problems. They even manage to design a way for him to go back to the BuyMore, AND bring his old boss back, for hell's sake. Doesn't anyone writing this show see anything wrong with the complete and total lack of progress of every single character and storyline? I've had poops with more arc than this character development. Chuck's father is conveniently left out of the season opener, after being a big part of the last few episodes of season 2, for no apparent reason at all. Isn't he a spy that built the intersect? I mean, did he get a part time job as a greeter at Wal-Mart or something? Why isn't he there helping his son to deal with the very problems that he built?

This show's lack of drive absolutely kills me. I was totally into this show for the first 3 or so episodes of the first season. I've watched all the rest, but if you can name one single episode that didn't have Chuck or Sarah staring off into the distance pondering their relationship somewhere near the end, I'll come over there and steal your brain, because you think too hard. And please don't try to tell me that Emmit getting killed was the plot moving forward. That was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Why did that spy even ask him where he could find Chuck. He's a freaking assassin! Does he have no way to get intel other than asking strangers in the parking lot, and then shooting them? Why did Chuck's old boss even need to come back? What makes him any more necessary than dead Emmett?

And what's the deal with Chuck and Sarah, anyway? I guess spies have no down time? They can't even have sex or something? They're supposed to both love each other, and yet they never get romantically involved at all, though they clearly have ample opportunity.

The part that made me just shake my head and turn the tv off was near the end of the second episode, where the other female spy asks Sarah if she has decided to come with her. Wait! In the episode just before this, Sarah made it sound like she was going to throw protocol to the wind, and run away with Chuck. This seemed like a dangerous thing, something she could get in trouble for. Now all of a sudden she can just decide where she wants to go and what she wants to do? Geez.

And about Chuck deciding to try and "save the world" rather than go and be with Sarah....that's pretty shaky ground in my opinion, given the numerous times that Chuck has wanted to run away with Sarah, rather than sticking around and helping.

In short, the first two episodes of season 3 were written by the same fail monkeys that wrote the first two seasons, and I'm done. Someone send me a noteboard if Chuck ever stops working at the BuyMore and finally f%Cks Sarah. Stupid show.... *wanders off mumbling*
