I get what you're saying though. The Uncanny Valley is deep and wide, and it's freaking scary down there. But on the other hand, I think the removal of animation from reality is one of the things that makes it such an interesting medium, because it gives you a freedom as an artist that some times Real Life just can't offer. I don't know, I just find it a very interesting, especially people's perceptions of it, and how real emotion can be conveyed by characters who are so clearly inhuman. Yet in our minds we understand them to be real, and make them real. It's the same sort of thing as with books (it's just a bunch of words, really) or even live action movies. The person you see is just a piece of cellophane, and often they are made-up to be even less life-like than some animated characters. What is the difference? What is the difference between the avatars in Avatar and Carl from Up in the way people perceive them? Emotionally understand them? Compare them to a real person? Which is a more realistic character? Fascinating.
