Thought it's likely too late to even consider.
Peter Jackson, with Spielberg, is doing the TINTIN movies with the exact same camera set-up used by AVATAR (James Cameron is offering advice), so they're going to be his foray into 3D. Jackson and Del Toro have said they want to maintain 100% visual continuity with the trilogy, so the new films will be shot on film, not digital, and Del Toro wants to scale back the use of CGI in favour of advanced animatronics wherever possible (Gollum excepted).
THE HOBBIT movies pushed back a year.
