More of the same crap, I thought. *spoilers* Arok Manok's Astral Projection Send a noteboard - 29/01/2010 06:18:30 PM
Personally, I wish they'd just kill off Sylar, as well as Quinto has played him, and move on. I also wish they'd kill off Claire. This pitiful lesbian subplot they've added is weak, particularly given Heroes' way of ignoring character development from just the week before and having characters backslide often. (Notably, Heroes often ignores the very end of previous episodes and rewrites from ep to ep such that events that ended an episode are changed at the start of the next. Pointless cast exits and additions are nothing next to ignoring direct plot continuity.)

Parkman bricking up mindtrapped Sylar's still living body in a corner of his basement - that's the craziness I'm talking about! OH YEAH.

I liked this whole episode a lot, actually. Sylar was great in classic nonchalant creep mode, the whole Samuel orders hits on his own people thing was pretty cool. There was minimal angst. Hooray! I am actually interested in how the season is going to end ...

Samuel's ordering hits might have come as more of a surprise if it wasn't the same sort of gambit they've used on the show before. If Claire buys it in the least, well, I can't lose more respect for the character, but I can hate her more for being a complete idiot who can't learn from her experiences.

I really don't know how so many characters can poo poo the fact that Samuel killed a whole town. And everyone knows it. Yeah, they can fear him, but to believe him or anything he has to say? That's just stupid.

It's gotten very old the way half of their characters have been villains and then everyone forgives/forgets their actions (notably Tracy and Surresh, HRG, Nathan and even Sylar, among others), and it's still annoying that Claire and others continue to ignore the healing power of the blood of a regenerator. HRG should know it can resurrect people, since it did him, but even if we ignore that, Peter knows the blood can heal severe wounds (as Adam's blood cured Nathan's burns). Also don't forget to factor in the fact that Peter can apparently control when he takes someone's powers with a touch (as he regularly has contacted other specials without taking their power), but whenever the writers want him to have trouble, they have him accidentally absorb a power (like Samuel's and the deaf woman's).

Does Heroes not have a show bible? Because the writers clearly haven't watched an episode before the one they're currently writing.

My prediction for next few weeks: Samuel's strength with controlling earth allows him to inexplicably defeat more powerful people (like Sylar, and probably Hiro eventually) even though controlling earth shouldn't affect most other powers, Claire will accuse her Dad of things she knows better than to believe, the deaf chick will stupidly overlook blatant evil and then accidentally start killing people, Edgar speedy will wholly side with Samuel despite the logical conclusion that Samuel killed the girl who knew his secret, Peter will borrow some less useful powers than those available to him (like Hiro's time control or the Haitian's power blocking) and yet will ultimately be able to instantly stand toe to toe with the person who's been using them for years (remember when Peter had to learn to use a new power?), Sylar will be helped free and be a changed man after 3 years of loneliness but will ultimately revert to nasty at the most harmful moment, Claire will on and off with Gretchen (who will in turn both encourage and discourage Claire acting stupid/freaky/normal, possibly leaving again for the 30th time), Tracy will show up from whatever random thing she's been doing and her ability to control water will be just what Samuel needs and her ability to look hot will be just what the writers need, Parkman will rejoin the fight again but his wife will object (his wife he previously abandoned because the kid was supposedly not his and because the writers wanted less family plots, just as they divorced Nathan offscreen from his wife, who didn't come to his funeral with his legitimate children) despite the fact that they're in direct danger, etc. Also, characters will useful powers and knowledge (Baby Stop and Go, Haitian, Where's Waldo Finding Girl, etc) will continue to be ignored because the writers made them too powerful. Meanwhile, Ando's ability to make any hero much more powerful will continue to be overlooked in favor of his ability to shoot red lightning. Also, Angela Petrelli will continue to be cryptic because she doesn't want Peter to know things, but this will just force Peter not to trust her until the next time he comes back to her, all forgiven. Hmm, did I leave anyone important out? If I did, just take their abilities, ignore the logical use, ignore any common sense they might have, and dump the characters into illogical places where they'll side with characters they should hate and ignore characters they should get help from.

I keep watching, but I wonder who the writers are pandering too, because it keeps getting less sensible. Stick to your own rules, Heroes!
