The sparse humor was dark and appropriate, but I couldn't help but feel the entire thing was a bit predictable, even with the twist at the end. I didn't deduce or guess that Eli was blind, but I was certain that there was going to be something to justify Eli's surrender of the book and their continued journey to alcatraz.


It was a nice twist though. Maybe because I was so focused on the book being locked I figured he'd replaced the pages with another book and had the ripped out ones in his pack...yup, I fell for that.
