Somehow Mr. Paik is involved with Iraqi mobsters, who work for Keamy, who's an ex-mercenary, who probably worked for somebody else. The actor seems very good at playing 'psychopathic'.
Alternatively, Jin borrowed money from Keamy's organization to finance his getaway with Sun, but the money was confiscated at customs, and so now he's in big trouble. Or, he was. Now he's in Sayid-style trouble.
The chief difficulty Alice found at first was in managing her flamingo.
