Pretty much anything Hitchcock is great.
"Philadelphia Story" with Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart (but beware the remake with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelley, all of whom I love, but blech) The scene where a drunk Jimmy Stewart shows up unannounced at Cary Grant's house at about 2 a.m. is one of the most funny scenes in movies. I have heard that it was mostly ad libbed and if Jimmy Stewart is sober doing that scene, then he deserved an Oscar for it. Alternatively, if he got a little tipsy before the scene, then kudos for pulling off a fantastic scene after having a couple.

So "The Manchurian Candidate" is still a bit too recent, but I tend not to like older movies
