Obviously the excellent middle part with HAL and "I can't do that, Dave" is the best, but I thought the opening scene with those monkeys was actually kinda cool, with that fantastic transition shot with that object hurled skywards. But the last half hour or so... er, yeah, it probably has a message, but don't ask me what it is. Maybe reading the book would help with understanding that.


I had a co-worker who set his Windows error message on his work computer to "I'm sorry Dave but I can;t do that." His name was Dave. There was nothing to break the silent monotony of the workplace like hearing that message out of nowhere.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
