Oh my God, that was amazing! MS might not be as good a pure actor as DT, but I think his characterisation of the Doctor is better. Still a bit manic, still a bit arrogant but somehow less annoying. DT always seemed to overdo the big moments (made worse by the old EPIC score) whereas MS's reading of 'Basically, run' was beautifully subdued. I'm looking forward to seasons without the Doctor shouting whenever he's saying something important.

And Amy! The only thing that disappoints me about her is she can't do a retrospective of her kissagram outfits each week. I loved that this episode was all about her relationship with the Doctor, rather than trying to show why she's so awesome and deserving to be a Companion. The initial meeting of Eleven and Young Amy was really well played and I felt so bad when she ran back into the house to get her stuff - hun he's the Doctor, there's no way he was gonna be five minutes! And that's why he invited her on board, not because Present!Amy is smart or brave or curious but because he still sees Young!Amy, who quite clearly was all those things. It's weird, but even with how their relationship is based around a child/adult one I think I'd still be more ok if these two hooked up than any of the pairings from RTD's day.

What didn't I like? The new logo is crap and I really didn't attach to Rory who cannot hold a candle to Mickey even in his rubbish first appearance. Apart from those little bits, it was ace!
